Accomplishments
The MRP supports a number of diverse activities every year: quarterly works-in-progress colloquia that allow faculty and graduate student researchers to share new research findings and receive critical feedback; regular public talks that feature exciting speakers from academia, industry, and journalism; an annual graduate student dissertation retreat that supports graduate students through intensive feedback and professional mentoring; and an annual public event that brings together top scholars, industry experts, and the public for engaging discussions of critical issues and hot topics, as well as tasty samplings, in the food world.
Members of the MRP are an active and accomplished group of scholars. Through their activities in the MRP, they have published numerous highly regarded books and articles, received national and international awards, and achieved prestigious grants and fellowships. Former graduate student members have successfully achieved prestigious tenure-track faculty appointments and research positions.
