Faculty members share works in progress with other group members for critique and improvement. These quarterly meetings rotate between different UC campuses. The results of past meetings have led to significant publications on food and the body.
Public events and conferences feature visiting scholars that bridge the the concerns of the academy, business, and local communities. Past guests included famous food writer Diane Kennedy, popular food scientist Harold McGee, and local winemaker, Randall Grahm.
A two-day retreat provides graduate student members with the chance to have a dissertation chapter or article reviewed by faculty members and other graduate students.
